"...Chesley Monroe Colston known to my father, Knox Colston, as
'Uncle Chess', was a
toll-gate keeper at Elkton, TN; (Giles Co.), where he made enough money to send
his children to college. His son, Jefferson Monroe Colston, attended Normal College at
Murfresboro, TN known as a Teacher's College. He was a school teacher in the
early 1930's in the Lincoln Co., TN school system.
My first principal as a school teacher, Mr. B. L. Rich (from Woodville, TN) at
East Limestone High School, Athens, AL 1963, went to college with Monroe
Colston, and told me funny and interesting stories about him.
Mr. Harrison Mullins (Lincoln Co., TN), my high school principal as a
student at
Ardmore High School, Ardmore, TN/AL also went to school with Monroe, and he too
told me these interesting stories.
Dr. Hardin, Ardmore, TN (Lincoln Co., TN) also attended college with Monroe. I
remember Dr. Hardin and my dad, Knox Colston, discussing fun stories about
Monroe..."
