Henry applied in Jonesboro, Sullivan County, TN 1832 May 22, then age 71
states that in 1780 or 1781 he substituted in Phillip Kite in Rockingham
County, VA, who was drafted for 2 months and marched under Capt. Koker,
Majr Hamilton to Portsmouth, VA thence to SC neat Camden, thence back and
crossed James River at Sandy Point and remained some days, when he was
discharged, and shortly after he returned home from the tour above stated,
he was drafted in Rockingham County, VA to go against Cornwallis to
intercept his march to ablemarle and discharged near Richmond, and again
drafted serving two months--
affidavits of John Anderson and Lewis Faust both of Sullivan County, TN
certify they accuainted with Henry Magert and state he is wholly blind.
