MINETREE: David Minetree who came to this country with French Huguenots
in September 1700 in the barque, Ye Peter and Anthony with Commander
Daniel Perreau, spelled his name Minestrier, which later was variously
corrupted by the colonists or otherwise changed to Menestrie, Ministres,
Minetreis, Minatre. There seems to be evidence that one branch of the
family has spelled the name Minatreaux and another Minatra. Information
from Odie Minatra, Supt. of State Orphan Home, Corsicana, TX.

Believed to be sister of David Minatree, Giles County, Tennessee 1850 Census,
no proof.
There is no proof that Martha is the daughter of David James and Martha Minatree, but migration pattern of both families implies
this. William and Martha Colston were in Giles County, Tennessee in the same
community with the Minatree family. She also named her children the same
names as the Minatree children, thus her grandchildren carried on the same names.

David Colston, their son, left Giles County/Lincoln County, Tennessee after the
1880 census, as did some of the Minatree families moving to Texas. There is no further proof of William or Martha Colston that I have found after the 1880
Lincoln County, Tennessee census living near their son, David, and his
family.
